First and foremost, if a health insurance quote comes back to a person and their first thought is “holy cow, what a great rate, I can’t believe it” then that quote should probably be automatically discarded. There is something to be said for bargain shopping, but a person needs to remember that medical care is simply not cheap. Anyone offering something which seems too good to be true is quite simply not on the up-and-up.

After narrowing down the most desirable quotes (after throwing away any ridiculously low offers, of course) the next step is to contact the Better Business Bureau to find out what sorts of reputations the companies have. Some people find that seeking information regarding particular California health insurance providers can result in some interesting finds; if the majority of results for a particular company are complaint after complaint then this isn’t the company to go with. After further narrowing down the options it is best to see which policy is ideal with regards to cost and options. Once a person finds a quote which works well for them they should contact the company directly to start up the application paperwork. Application paperwork is much more detailed than the initial quote questionnaire, but after all is said and done the person will be a proud owner of a great California health insurance policy.
